Signed by 33 bishops, a letter to immigrants was released by the Latino/Hispanic bishops of the United States on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The letter to immigrants reaffirms the men and women as images of God and valued members of the Body of Christ.
“In your suffering faces we see the true face of Jesus Christ,” the letter states. “Your migration gives a strong and clear message that we are migrants on the way to eternal life.”
Pope advances sainthood cause of Kateri Tekakwitha
Pope Benedict XVI advanced the sainthood causes of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha and six others during a meeting on Dec. 19. He also formally recognized the martyrdom of 64 victims of the Spanish Civil War and advanced the causes of 18 other men and women.
